Behavioral Expectations
1. No hitting, kicking, shoving, etc. (In other words, keep your hands and feet to yourself.)
2. ABSOLUTELY no food or drink in the classroom.
3. Bring all materials to class. This includes writing instruments, homework, or any other item necessary for particular assignments that you have been given.
4. Always bring a library or reading book to class. When you finish an assignment early, I expect you to be reading, NOT talking. (This does not mean homework from another class.)
5. No vulgar language or body actions.
6. Do not throw ANYTHING in my classroom.
7. Do not move any classroom furnishings without permission.
8. The bulletin boards are to be looked at, not touched. Unless you have been given permission to write on them or to remove things from them, DON’T.
9. Attendance in my classes is crucial. Many activities carry over from one day to the next, and often pertinent instruction or information is given on the first day of a project that may take several days.

Grade Helpers and General classroom information
1. For any daily assignment on which a student receives a grade of less than half of the points possible, he or she may have the option to redo the assignment. First, the student must come see me before or after class so that we can figure out what happened and I can make sure that the student understands the concept. Then, I will give a new assignment (same content, different questions) for the student to complete. The new grade will replace the old grade.
2. Students may receive extra credit through reading. For each book read off the reading challenge bookmark, a student will receive five points. These points will be totaled and put in the grade book as an extra grade at the end of the quarter. (The required accelerated reader book cannot count as a challenge book).
3. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. You have until 4:30 on the day an assignment is due to have it turned in to me. DO NOT slide it under my door or lay it on my desk; make certain that you hand it to me, put it in the turn in box, or ask Mrs. Reed to put it in my mailbox.
4. Each student in a high school English class (concurrent enrollment classes excepted) will be expected to complete an Accelerated Reading project for a grade each quarter. This requirement entails reading a novel, passing an AR quiz over the novel, and completing a book project to go with the novel.
