The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching: A Checklist for Staying Focused Every Day by Bryan Goodwin & Elizabeth Ross Hubbell (2013) provides teachers a simplified model for focusing their teaching on what is important in the classroom. The concept is that many professionals, from pilots to nurses and doctors, use a checklist to ensure focus and correctness in their work, and educators, as professionals, could benefit from the concept.
The checklist is broken into 3 areas which are explained and linked to additional information below. Throughout the course for which this book was read, I completed a number of assignments that followed one lesson through each of the touchstones. These assignments and a personal reflection can be found here: Learning Theories and Models of Instruction. Reference Goodwin, B. & Hubbell, E. R. (2013).
